The IoT application ranking tracks the Internet of Things activity of different applications by quantifying popularity and activity for each of the IoT applications. The ranking is updated on a quarterly basis and serves as an indication of the segments that currently enjoy the most activity and buzz.
Latest Update: July 16, 2015 Ranking for Q2/2015
The basis for the IoT applications ranking is the evaluation of four dimensions:
1. # of news items
How often newspapers and blogs mention each IoT application/segmentation
2. # of Tweets
How often applications get mentioned in tweets with a hashtag on Twitter
3. # of LinkedIn posts
How often posts mention the application field
4. # of Google search items
How often each application is being searched for on Google
The highest scoring segment in each dimension receives a rating of 100%, with all other Internet of Things segments receiving a lower percentage in linear relation to the score of the highest ranking application. The total score is an average of all four measured dimensions.
