IoT adopters in 2021 encounter a number of challenges with their projects
In a recent IoT Analytics survey, 86 key decision makers in IoT project development were asked to provide the key challenges they have encountered in developing IoT projects. The figure above shows those challenges in order of frequency. Inadequate PoC and testing is highlighted as the top challenge encountered by the respondents, followed by poor market research and misalignment of internal stakeholders. The analysis shows that complexity is not just technological but is mostly of management and strategic nature. In fact, the number of management challenges is greater than the technological ones, as shown in the figure. Additionally, important technological choices—security, platform, and scaling—require informed management decisions .
Adopt common best-practices and avoid running into the same challenges
IoT Analytics in collaboration with Libelium, a leading IoT solution vendor, developed a 23-page whitepaper titled: Best practices to a successful IoT journey.
The publication sheds further light on the 15 most common IoT challenges, discusses key success factors in IoT project development, and looks at examples from several real IoT projects.
